people who scoff at not needing a fire

for 100 days have clearly never come even REMOTELY close to having had to haul 20+ cords of wood 100m or more to a shelter, split them, cut them to 2 ft lengths, all by hand It is an ALL day job to process and haul a cord of wood, 4x 4x8 ft and if you keep a fire roaring in a shelter, you'll burn 2 cords of wood a week during the coldest weather. You probably wont find dead trees all in one area and if you dont know the trick of using a siberian fire lay, you can't use green wood. If you want a fire inside of your shelter, you'll have to cut the logs into 2 ft long segments and split them, too. It's MUCH easier to just leave the logs un-cut, unsplit, and use them to heat big rocks to take inside of your shelter, or just 'aim" the Siberian's one way heat at the clear vertical side of your shelter. having smoke, CO fumes and fire hazard inside of your debris shelter is an insane risk. So far,at least 6 of the 70 contestants have ruined their shelters with fires. Every time, it has cost a promising contender his shot at the prize money. So no intelligent man would risk getting lung cancer or emphysema from breathing smoke constantly for 100 days, risk waking up with his gear, clothing or hair on fire. :-)

there's no pickup truck in which to haul stuff, no igloo water cooler handy, you're at risk of being hurt every minute of such work, you're starving, exhausted, freezing, depressed, embarrassed at your obvious failing in front of 2 million people on tv, no chain saw to take most of the work out of the wood processing.

Melvin, I don't give a rat ****ed MRE about the Alone Show.

You want to arm chair game it fine. You can talk to yourself to your hearts content about it.

I got more important things to ponder than a half assed Grizzly Adams, or in this case Fester Addams, game show.

The truth is your so infatuated with this show you don't know how boring your drivel is. Everyone knows your not DOING ANYTHING! Just saying what you would do doesn't mean you COULD do it! Your whole life is the keyboard.

ROFLMAO!

A typical Melvin response.

He'd probably get more traction on a fansite for the show maybe.

It really IS just a game show. Which is fine, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a tv show. I’ve mentioned before that I used to enjoy Survivorman when it was on. Point simply being that watching Survivorman, or even ‘thousands of hours of thinking about’ it, absolutely wouldn’t make me an expert on doing what he did.

I also used to watch Rat Patrol, but watching that show and even thinking about it & analyzing it a bunch wouldn’t make me an expert on desert warfare either.

you CAN"T think of the things I come up with. You're a second hander. You've never had an original thought in your life. You would DARE do half of the things I"ve done, and we all know it. The motto for the SAS is "Who Dares Wins" So you CANT win. You dont even dare to send in an application, even after I've told you how to win it.

Melvin, why would I want to? Financially my wife and I are comfortable, during a normal year, we are quite busy attending matches throughout 2 provinces and 2 states. Melvin, many of us have had far more intelligent postings than the vast majority of dribble that you provide. Melvin, you and you alone are the only one here who has an obsession to a "reality" tv show, not us. Please scan your application for us to see!

I dare to go in the field on a regular basis. I dare to hunt game with a variety of legal methods including; hand gun, rifle, and bow.

I dare to spend multiple days in the field, with only the items I bring with me.

I dare to do. You dare to pretend.

You aren’t SAS, I’ve met some of these people. You shouldn’t be quoting or insinuating you have anything in common with them.
