people are clueless about basic geometry

and the facts of life about game. A 5 sq mile allotment of land is ust 2.4 mile diameter circle. Starting at its center, you can't walk at a good pace for mor than half an hour before hitting your boundary. if there's no game inside of that area, you are screwed when it comes to trapping and much more so when it comes to bowhunting. Half of that circle is out on the water, guys So, what you've really got it for hunting trapping is a rectangle about a mile wide and 2 miles long. That's it. If you caught EVERY small mammal and grouse on that 2 sq miles, it would not feed you properly for 2 months and you wont be able to catch even half of them, with nothing more than snares and primitive traps. This is Especially true of you have no bait. Rabbits and other herbivors will bait to salted cambium if they are not close to the sea. Foxes, wolverines, lynx and raptors will bait to pemmican and live-caught mice and small birds. 4 wraps of 3" mesh netting around a 1x1x2 ft wooden frame and the result is 3/8' mesh. A basket, lined with tarp and tape, can hold water, and mice can be baited out onto a roller log across the top of such a "bucket", with split small logs forming baited ramps up which the mice can climb. Mice will bait to fish guts or pemmican, mixed with salted cambium. Nothing keeps you from adding peanut butter to your pemmican as you make it, either.

Good training for the game might be to just dry-run it. Pick your 10 items and walk into the woods for a month; might learn some lessons about things you'd want to adjust before trying it for real.

I’m curious as to how you convince the animals where the boundaries are? You probably think a deer crossing sign makes the animals cross there.

Unless you’re inept and push game out of your area, you’ll find that medium and large game have home areas that can exceed 5 miles - especially if you’re talking about Alaska.

So unless you’re thrashing around and putting your scent everywhere, you will get game transitioning through the area fairly regularly.

you dont get to pick the locations or the boundaries, dummy. Doesn't matter what the animals do outside of your area, you can't take them . That's my point. Every last one of you got it backwards. if the animals aint there, your only hope is to bait them. Raptors are killing your game animals. I'd eat every last one of them that i could trap or shoot on this show.

sure, you should try stuff. Nobody on this show has, or they'd do much better. wtf would anyone want to waste a month's calories and time on shelter building and firewood when they dont have to do so? but they do, cause they're ignorant. Just like you dip****s. None of yo uever heard of a supershelter until I posted it here, and none of you had a clue how to make an igloo out of 2 inches of snow, either.

so raptors are killing the game you say isn't there?

Baiting animals that aren't there, works how, exactly?

and you're going to commit a felony on a TV show? Good luck with that!

you can't really be this stupid...

and before you claim some superior hunting and trapping skill, how many days have you spent this year chasing game? how many animals have you harvested?

if the answer is zero, then you are a wannabe poser without a clue. That is a fact. Sorry, but that's the truth of it.

I'm heading out again next weekend for a final round of scouting for coues deer, along the Mexican border. My hunt starts the day after thanksgiving.

when are you going hunting or trapping, to put your "skills" to the test.

If all you've done is think about it, then you have no clue.

I'm looking forward to your insults, because you can't post any proof.
