use much less 1.5" mesh netting

that's 20 ft of cordage and 81 knots per sq ft, so that has to be reserved for the gillnets for use under the ice. There will be plenty of time to weave such netting, but it takes 5x as long and of course, over twice as much cordage as making 3" mesh. It takes quite a while to split local roots, vines, etc, weave them into the 3" mesh and then tie it here and there with bits of the tarp splits that "run out', before they reach the full length of the tarp when theyare torn off of that tarp, but at least that way, it's not using up much of your useful cordage. For the first few weirs, you can use some of your 900 ft of fishline (for tying in the local vegetation

Unless your "pass" with the seine catches massive amounts of fish, this sort of of netting will suffice for the seine, too. When you've moved the seine close to the shoreline, stop crowding the fish. Use your spear, dipnet, fishing arrows, E tool, etc, to finish off the catch.

By running net "pens" out into the lake, 30-40 ft, and setting the nets 30-40 ft apart, the seine only needs to be 50-70 ft long. Then stakes can be used to move one end of the seine towards the shore, then the other. With the shoreline of each pen featuring a stake with a perforated tarp-tape bait-bag tied to it. there will be minnows hanging around constantly.and the minnows will draw the bigger fish.

With three of the 100m long "chum-lines" reaching out into the lake, based at the center of your line of net-pens, with a baited hook dangling from every other bait bag, you'll draw a lot of fish from far out into the lake Keep those bait bags full of heads/guts and you'll harvest 30 lbs of fish per day, making 3-4 passes with the seine per day. Given 3-4 such pens, that's not a lot of netting and each pass with the seine WILL catch a few small fish, in an area that's baited and has 3000 cubic feet of water in each 30x30 ft pen. There may be less water than that, if the lake is shallow, but that just means you need less netting to reach further out into the lake, so I bet it all evens out in the end.

Each pass will take over half an hour per pen, and you'll also have to service your chumline at least a couple of times per day. If the water is warm enough to let you wade in with the seine, each pass with the seine.wouid be twice as fast. Given a fire, hot stones, dry clothing, etc, right there on shore, you can probably do the wading part in water that was 40F. which is 5C. The water temp drop lags that of air temp drop in the fall, but the charts say that the weather is sub freezing by Oct, so the wading bit is probably OOTQ. They drop you in late Sept, so your 100 days is up on xmas + one day. It'll take 3 days to make enough netting (if made out of the tarp) to have just one pen and the seine and a day to make the pontoon outrigger raft. However, making the netting out of the rope hammock goes twice as fast. I could set each 2 day's net production as a baited net weir. Cutting the 24 large single hooks in half and reforging the ends could be done in an easy day, Having to make the ends barbed would make for a long day, but you'd not have to do them all at once.

Say each net "wall" that projects out into the lake averages needing to be 4 ft wide and is 30 ft long. That's 120 sq ft of netting. That's not much, when I have the cordage needed to make 2000 sq ft of it. :-) I could make 10 such pens, each one 30 ft wide, and still have enough cordage left over for making the 1.5" mesh gillnets for use under the ice. I could not keep 10 pens serviced even twice a day, and still do all of the other things I'd need to do. However, I could do 3 passes per day for 4 pens, which means 5 net-walls. Which would be a bit over 600 sq ft of netting, plus the 250 ft of netting for the seine. Probably a week before having everything in full production, to include the chumlines. all of the hooks cut in half, barbed, etc. They wont let you take barbed hooks, but you're allowed to use whatever you find. Pretty lucky of me to find those 48 barbed hooks, eh? :-)

even 20 lbs of fish per day, for a month, is 600 lbs, 325 calories per lb (of live weight). 190,000 calories. Then catch 5 lbs of fish per day thru the ice, for 50 days, 150 lbs, which is another 50,000 calories. 240,000 calories for a 100 day challenge, is 2400 caloreies per day. If you're taking it easy, dress warm enough, stay in the igloo or the double walled tarp lean to a lot. you wont lose more than 20 lbs and maybe not more than 10 lbs. That's better than anyone has done, even the two who scored big animals Of course, I'd set treblehooks for predators, vertical junglewhips for big game, single wire snares for small stuff, and a few 10 strand cable foot-snares for big animals, too

What I want is a 2 million $, 200 day challenge. The man who can do THAT can obviously stay out there indefinitely, and the clear 1.2 million $ would fix me right up.:-) I'd turn that into a clear 3 million $ in 3 years, and go on safari for the rest of my life. I want to take all of the plains game and leopard, cougar, average black bears with the 9x21 pocket pistol and the bigger stuff with a .460 Rowland alloy framed Commander.

Melvin, you haven't been paying attention have you? On the show "Alone", THEY pick your location, not you! Some have been lucky that their location can feed them, the most NOT! You are not allowed to move any significant distance, NOTHING is guaranteed.

It would be much more cohesive and rational if you would keep discussions about your thread topics in those topics, rather than start new topics for the sole purpose of thread-topic count. "Topic, topic, topic, topic."

Per your logic, I can claim eight new topics now. Now nine.

Topic, topic, topic. That makes twelve new 'topics' for me. Don't you wish you could start as many topics as I do...?

Wow; the 9x21 simply isn't all that powerful. The max pressure is not only below 9mm+P, it's below 9mm standard pressure. Leopards hit eight feet long and 150-200 lbs.

A hot 9x21 load is basically only capable of mimicking a .357Sig pistol, or a 3"-4" .357 revolver or so power-wise. Hunting feline carnivores as big as a lot of humans with one is a very bad idea for anyone. A near-70-year-old with bad knees doing it is an extremely bad idea.

Got so distracted by the pocket-gun suicide safari that I missed this initially.

Curious how you'd turn 1.2m into 3m in three years. That would take probably a 35-40% annual return or so.
