Easier to modify dovetails with saw than
whittle the end of the counterweight sticks of the big pump drill. Lots of places dont have stones (that size and matching ) but anyone can cut 8" long, 4" OD chunks of logs as the weights I didn't want to have to drill holes, so i used notches, spacers, a plug driven in the notch atop the spindle where the rope goes over teh spindle, so that the rope can't pop out on the upstroke. Dovetailing the 4 sticks into those short logs took as long as all the rest of the assembly.
