real feel 17F, actual temp30F

polypro sock, breathable mylar bootie, and then on one foot, another polypro sock,. That foot was comfortable, the other was not. Strange that such a small thing makes such a big difference. Laying on your back is warmer than on your side, curling up fetal is warmer than laying straight, as long as your kidneys are not there-by exposed. Seated reclining is considerably warmer than laying horizotnaly, at least 5F degree's worth. having unlaced shoes on, as vs not, is worth almost 10F degrees. there's a HUGE difference between what works at 30F and what works at 20F, and a LOT more difference between 20F and 10F, too. 10F, with wind, is seriously dangerous stuff, in just a few minutes, if you have no protection for your hands and face, in addition to being bundled up.otherwise.

I’m curious on where the temperature measurements come from.

It all doesn’t pass the smell test.

I’m good to sub zero temps in my gear, and it is more durable and lighter than this mess.

I have used my 5 piece sleeping bag at -40F Melvin, if it gets warmer I just have to remove 1 or 2 sections of it depending on the temperature.

Did you have to use any trash on plastic bags or paper towels with it? Didn't think so. Mel thinks 40 degrees is cold an nothing moves below 10 degrees, guess he never heard of Korea in the 50s. Think he should spend some of his energy reading history!

Considering he spent time in Korea as a meathead, he should have heard about "The Frozen Chosen"

Maybe he was too busy shooting birds off the PX roof with his 380 and beating dogs to learn anything. Don't think he was there long before they threw him out of the army.

Did Boati die from exposure? He hasn’t given us an installment of homeless camping tips in a while...

Don't remember who it was, but I once heard someone describe 'camping' as "spending money on things that allow you to intentionally live like a homeless person, and calling it fun".
