A VERY bright man told me to

try silica gel desiccant inside of the mylar bag. :-) I might dump the bulk, weight, cost and flame/water risk of the absorbent painter's dropcloth bag. Lately, it hasn't been cold enough to find out anything new. Can dry out the 1/4 lb of silica gel in the canteen cups, over the fire. It has very low bulk and it will also help to dry out damp clothing or debris-insulation, too. Can use it in couple of net-bags, for comfort in the sleeping gear and exposure to the moisture, and then return it to a water-tight can while not sleeping. Turns out that the crystalline cat litter is silica gel. Can carry it in the Platypus bag normally used as the pee jar. Wont need to pour the silica into a net bag, (letting it absorb moisture) if I'm not in the sleeping bag.

So how much gel will you need to remove all the liquid from your body?

Consider what you’re trying to do, and pause for a minute and where is the moisture coming from.

Not only your breathing but your skin loses varying amounts of moisture; not just during physical exertion.

And now he's whizzing in water bottles.

Some day very soon the last brain cell is going to pop from overwork on all these ideas, schemes, grand plans, etc.

I think you are missing the actual problem here. There is a real reason good gear breathes and is not sealed up like your Mylar. The major design flaw is your use of Mylar and a lack of venting.

If you insist on the use of Mylar, you may consider adding a number of small vents to allow moisture to escape. They could be as simple as small holes, or complex with cloth covering the holes

That one is a mystery....

But he is correct about the crystal cat litter being silica gel. I used to have a coffee can full of it I used in my gun safe. Donít know what happened to it, but it got thrown out or lost during a move.

Oh yeah the stuff works but I just have this image of him waking out of an Ambian addled sleep and getting the bottles mixed up.
