dont watch movies. Love walking dead, tho. :-) They could just pixel out all the zombies, as far as I'm concerned. That part is too stupid for me.

One of the best SHTF Documentary that I have seen is the A&E Documentary "After Armageddon" done in 2015. It portrays a family of 3 in the 1st 12 months of a collapse. It is a quite plausible storyline and well made.

Not a typical 'shtf' movie, but Miracle Mile was one that really struck me when I saw it; possibly because I'd only been married a couple years at the time, and was before the Berlin wall came down.

But it's one of only three movies (Miracle Mile, The Passion of the Christ, and Saving Private Ryan) that I can remember where there was complete silence after the movie when the crowd was leaving the theater.

If not the zombie stuff, is it just the people-on-people action/danger that you like about it? I like the show too, fwiw. A lot of Daryl Dixon types in my wife's family. (And some Merle's too, for that matter.)

Merle was All Right IMHO. He's the one that should have been kept alive on the series.
Came off like a mouthy A-Hole,but managed to do the right thing under pressure.

I quit watching when they killed off Rick and quit watching much when they killed Carl. I dont gaf about the rest of them. They keep making the same stupid mistakes. Not mounting a guard, having an open fire, having ANY fire in daylight. All they ever had to do was move north for a winter, and let the zombies freeze solid, then get some charts and a boat and get to a remote island in the tropics someplace. I realize that such tactics would kill the show, but I can only stomach just so much bs. I liked Book of Eli Movie, seemed pretty much like I'd expect shtf to be (within 6 months, actually).

I've had correspondence with some of the Alone contestants, and there's apparently a lot of bs restrictions that nobody talks about. I've also, however, on Yt commentaries, had some of them lie thru their teeth about what they could take and do, too. I"ve had some say that you can't take a hammock at all, others say you can't take a cord hammock, but i I know that others have done so. i"ve been told that the skillet could not be more than 2 qts, same size as the cook pot, and others have taken much larger skillets. So apparently, they cant read, which is a common affliction of our society. Abysmal ignorance is why shtf will kill off 99% within the first year and the lack of non-hybrid seed will kill off half of the remainder within another year. If any animals survive at all, it will take a century for them to spread out from whatever remoteness they are hidden in and repopulate the rest of the US. i expect the fish to be gone, except far at sea and maybe in the depths of the Great Lakes and all of the known-edible wild plants to be ravaged, too. I expect the cities and towns to be burned and most of the forests, too. Certainly the pine forest will burn. Too many idiots will be out there for there to be any other outcome.

You realize those shows are fake don't you? Most are filmed in a studio.
And those people would not give you the time of day.

Yes, they are fake, but in these 3 cases the directors went out of their way to portray what is possible and they went to a great deal of trouble in the prop department. The important thing is, have they portrayed what is actually possible? Zombie movies are just light entertainment, you know like Melvin's postings.
