Hate to say it, but those French rations look pretty good.

Garand, in your opinion how do the IMPs compare to the MREs. I know with the MRE, if you have to eat 'em for a sustained period, you won't sh!t right for a month.

Eating the Canadian IMP's, there is ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM taking your morning constitutional after 2-3 days!

Thanks for the info on the MRE sites. I'll bet our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan do quite a bit of food ration trading among each other.

Yeah in a group I could see carrying lots of those things but still not some of them if afoot. I guess I was thinking of finding ones self in a situation we are more likely to face than a full scaled bug out do to some catastrophe, such as being out hiking..

Some of those other rations sound fairly decent. I'll have to get some and give em a try, and maybe some of the freeze dried stuff too.

Some of the freeze dried entrees that Mountain House makes are almost gourmet meals.

Mountain House is tops as far as the freeze-dried stuff goes that I've tried. It's also the most expensive. But pricey good food is a lot better than cheap crappy food.

I lived on a diet of Mt House and Trout a few times when I made hiking trips to Wyoming.

Magnum, after 10 years the mountain House still tasted good. By the way you have an email about Pagosa Springs.

Thanks Garand.

I haven't had any MH for that long, but I've yet to taste any that was bad, especially compared to other freeze dried food.

Many years ago I checked my ruck at a 5 year interval and discovered that the beef jerky, peanuts and moist fruit bars had gone rancid within that time frame. Over the years I have come to appreciate the longevity of freeze dried and dehydrated choices.
