dont NEED compass for basic wayfinding.

stick shadow will tell you directions. If sun aint shining,WAIT. What's your hurry? See, bozos, compass and map are for fools who "think" that they have to be a certain place,by a certain TIME. Post shtf, there will be no such hurry, nor any need to be anyplace. Not, anyway, for the guy who can hack it anyplace. People will be bringing supplies to such a guy, all the time and everyplace. :-) Inadvertantly and unintentionally, but the result will be the same.

Yep that's gonna be real good if you are on the run from someone, at night.

Who'd you learn this crap from?

Chief Spewing Bull of the Fukarwe Tribe?

Gunkid, if thats what you believe, who are we to argue with you. Please carry more ammo when you bug out though, the guys that smokes you will probably need more ammo. Your humping ammo for the guy that waxes you, will give your life some sort of accomplishment.

God, that's funny. Ever have to run from an ambush and try figure out which way to an LZ or towards your unit? No, I'll wait for the sun to come out, while the NVA shoot holes in me. Don't bother to click open a lensatic compass and at least get a general idea where to head. Where do you get this stuff from? You are entertaining, but in the world of Bozo's, you are THE poster child. I understand compass and map work is abstract, and many people cannot get it, but don't come across like there is no need for it. How do you think Lewis and Clark crossed the continent? Road signs? Asked the Sioux for directions?

Well, since he can't read a map, there's not much need of the compass. No need to tell what direction you're going if you don't know where to go.

"Where's that watering hole?"
"Hell, I don't know, let me get the stick. . . .we're heading west though!"

Yes, your stick in the ground will tell you where the valleys are, where the water holes are, where the roads are, and where the cities are.

But when you're are trying to E&E, you ain't going to put your stick in the ground to guess a direction to travel. Of course, without a map, what's the point anyway?

Plus, sticking to heavy cover, traveling only at night, kinda negates the whole stick in the gound thing, doesn't it?

Once again, FACTS (you know, those things that punks can't stand) trump silly fantasy.

Then there's the matter of carrying a walking stick through heavy cover or at night and not making more noise than bears humping.
