At first glance, I’d suggest revisiting the search filters. Looking for Federal HST’s, so I selected “ammunition / 9mm parabellum / federal”; and most of the stuff that came up wasn’t federal. Aguila, armscor, tulammo, ruag, red army standard, remington, ppu; you name it.

the fact that birdshot can still be had should tell you how unpopular the shotgun is, when people are serious about self defense, relative the pistol and the rifle, even amongst the untrained newbie Corona buyers, who are often fed a bunch of bs about how "effective" the shotgun is. :-)

Lower capacity, greater recoil, slower reloading, etc. But on a shot-for-shot basis, if talking strictly about per-shot trauma inflicted on target, a well-loaded 12-gauge is hard to beat for close-range defensive use.

You hate shotguns, and claim that they're not popular. Awesome. But have you ever noticed that even though you decry everyone else as stupid, you at the same time try to claim that all these 'stupid' people agree with you..? Think about that. You say they're stupid, and that they believe what you believe. That's interesting. | |

Shotgun ammunition with loads larger than 7 1/2 are nowhere to be found around here. I have found exactly one source for even 7 1/2 shot. SOMEBODY's buying an awful lot of No. 4,6 and 7 1/2 shot ammunition. As far as Melvin's thoughts on Shotgun's in general, it's the same old too much noise and too much recoil for him. Same thing with rifles firing calibers greater than .223. Even then he want's a .22 unit. Gun guru who can't handle shotguns and even medium bore rifles?

Actually you will find that #7 1/2 & 8 shot are used by Cowboy Action shooters. I generally have anywhere from 750-1,000 on hand for upcoming matches. My wife prefers Winchester "AA" Low Velocity, Low Recoil for he SxS. It doesn't bruise her shoulder and once the shotgun chamber has been polished, with just a flick of the wrist, just flies out of the gun after firing when the action is opened. Most of the Trap & Skeet guys I know that buy bulk factory ammo do it in the early part of September so they can get an early jump on next years season.
