the forend had been pulled out of the reciever, parts broken/missing. I couldn't find any such parts. Jerry, on the phone, told me he could fix it. So I left it with him. Collector item, according to its owner. Jerry milled a slot in the receiver and rigged an operating rod to the slot. Owner was VERY upset. EYE would have asked the owner first. Jerry just told me to tell the guy that such clunks were not collector's items. He was correct, but I was the one who got bad things said about me. :-)

If he got the thing working the owner ought to have been happy. Some gunsmiths won't even tough something if they know the shop/machine time is more than what the thing is worth. I think mainly if the owner back out on paying for the work.

i had already set the price and the owner said ok, but I myself did not know that Jerry was going to massively alter the appearance and mechanism of the gun.
