One last hunt before reloading season
I have an upcoming Handgun Javelina hunt, then I begin my "reloading season"
in between hunting seasons (not counting coyote hunting as a season), I sit down and re-evaluate all my loads and ammo requirements.
I think I'm going to devote a little time to getting a .300 blackout load worked up for suppressed hunting. I have some that are good enough, but I figure I'll tweak the loads to see if I can get them even better. I user supersonics for hunting, but even then the suppressor is useful.
Then I'm going to have to revisit my .280, as my supply of Barnes XLCs has dried up. I have an awesome load for these bullets, but unfortunately I was one of the only three people that bought them - they've been discontinued.
this means a good barrel scrubbing and a totally new load development effort. Then I'll work up a number of loads in batches of 5 and see what groups and what doesn't. then I'll crank out a bunch.
I only hand load hunting rounds, as plinking ammo is so cheap - for the most part.
Then the other project is coming up with a good load for the .45 (long) colt
We had early snow this year so the last 2 matches my wife and I planned to shoot in Montana had to be cancelled. So I started reloading early. I've got about 1,800 .44 mag, 2,100 .45LC and about 6,300 .38 Spl already for matches to start in May. I shouldn't have to reload until early August depending how many matches we shoot. I'm lucky that I've got all my load development completed in the past 2 spring periods before the hunters started load development which meant I had the range to myself.
Dorobuta - curious what bullet(s) you use for subsonic hunting loads..?
Other than the exotics like the Trident & such, I've not looked much into the higher-end subsonic stuff.

For hunting I'm using supersonics - 125gr ballistic tips over 17.2 gr of H110
Thanks. I read 'suppressed' and assumed 'subsonic'.
