85 gr Win 380 silvertip jhp is very special

its soft jacket, hollowbase and lubrication make it safe to drive it 200 fps faster than is safe with normal, 90 gr jhp's, in 9mm, 9x23, .38 Super, 38 Casull, etc. I hit a medium-sized dog with it, on the point of the shoulder, no exit, and it stretched him out, unable to move, like a 223 sp hit. I"ve seen .44 mag jhp's do worse, and seen super hot .45 L Colt jhp's do worse, too (repeatedly) Several other hits with this bullet, 1650 fps in a 5" 9mm (lacked time to experiment further, i was on the run) proved that it'w something ELSE, man. 1250 fps in a locked breech 380, 1900 fps in a 5" .38 Super. all without any signs of excessive pressure. P35 browing wont feed it, tho. too steep a feed ramp.

What is it with you and dogs? I've owned, been at both sides of angry/ protective/attacking/working/fighting dogs....and the closest I ever came to HAVING to shoot one was during my process service days. I could have pulled and shot. Instead, I threw him(60 pound Pitbull mix) into the next room and shut the door.My partner- be was up for killing both the dog AND the owner ( he was a dog lover too).
What was the circumstances around parking a .380 HP into a dog?

strays, needing to test ccw loads on something bigger than a chuck. I used to live near a place that had BEEN the city pound. It had closed years before, moved to another part of the county, actually, but 1000's of people did not know that. Finding the place shutttered, they often just dumped out their dog and neighbors had grown sick of having them kill cats, chase livestock, etc. I offered to shoot them and they were positive about it.

You are aware that the majority of dogs I've had, given to family, friends, good homes; etc - you ARE aware that more than 90% of them were adopted/rescued strays? With some of the street level rescues being done my me? And you probably understand that although I don't engage in chest thumping/loud talk/tough guy sounds- you ARE aware that that type of unnecessary behavior around me would have EVERY individual known to the perpetrator wondering " Whatever happened to Dog Shooter?", right? Just to avoid misunderstandings, my tolerant/forgiving nature DOES have limits.

Yeah. Keyboard tough guy. I don't need to ever sorry about anyone who apparently vets a little tingle in his shorts killing dogs. And one who defaults to calling people " punk"... Project much? Got tired of servicing your cellie? Did you wash his shorts real nice? Yeah, and you LIKE that word, don't you?

I really hate having to put down feral animals as it's the fault of the owners who leave them in that situation.

But sometimes it has to be done.

I do not like it however.

If the animal can be caught/trapped and/or tamed I prefer to do so.

I admit to being a wierdo on the subject. There's been many times in my life that dogs getting killed bothered me a LOT more than some of the people I was around when they achieved room temperature.

I understand that. I have had 2 German Shepard's in the past and when they go it's like loosing a family member along with part of yourself.

I got a little upset myself when I had to hold one of Pat's lapdogs as we put him down. He was 12yo and had testicular cancer, swollen 10x normal size.

I never let them get quite that deep. Know they won't be around all that long. hit by cars, stolen, disease, etc.
