5.45x39 AP Does anyone know if/where one can get 7N10 or 7N22 in the US? I'm guessing if there is any it'd be the 7N10. Does either loading still retain the air pocket? Anyone know if anyone in the importation business try to get by with the "its smaller than .22 so I'm exempt" argument? How did that turn out? Also, and kind of off topic, what is the real BC for the regular 7N6? I've seen every number from .17 to .39 (both of those extremes are a tad to extreme to have any basis in fact for a .21" 53 gr bullet, methinks) in my search for the answer. |
I believe the supply of that ammo dried up quite a while ago. Haven't see any being offered anywhere. I've got two Veprs that would likely love to eat that stuff..... |
No Ap rounds. But Sog has Bulgarian FMJ 5.45x39 Ammo 1080Rd. Can...$118.80 ea. I'll look in my latest century arms catalog. Or check these guys out. www.dansammo.com they did have 5.45x39 7N6. |
Yeah, when someone came out with the Krinkov (sp?), that effectively made the AP 5.45x39 on the banned list since it would work in a "pistol". Damn their eyes...... |
Thanks for answering the primary question Gunners762. Anyone know about the BC of the WASP ammo?
No Ap rounds.
:: goes and sulks in a corner :: :headbang: |
http://barnaulammunition.com/products.htm Then go to - dansammo.com and you'll see they distribute for Barnaul Ammunition. Barnaul SHOWS THEY HAVE AP ON THERE SITE.They might be able to help you. |
7N10 or 7N22 I made a phone call this morning and I was speaking with the sales Rep "FORGET IT"!! He said: "Its real bad out there!!! Last time they had 7N10 or anything else was eight month ago and maybe in two month they have a new shipment. He said nothing is out there....and that Barnaul hasn't been sending them anything ". I tried! |
Seems to me I bought a batch of the Barnaul 5.45x39 stuff when I got my two Veprs. Haven't shot any of it, though. What I read about the 5.45 sounded like it was pretty nasty stuff if you got hit by it. So why is it so hard to find now? |

I guess with things going on around the world and iraq - "Supply and demand thing" I don't own any weapons that use the 5.45x39 round. I was told way back when that the 5.45x39 supply would be questionable. So I steared clear of the Ak74 variants. SOG has 5.45x39 in stock and http://www.ammoman.com/webstore_545x39R.htm RUSSIAN MFG.Mil-Spec 7N6 1976 PRODUCTION... As for the air pocket- My understanding is that none of the commercial ammo has it. Who the hell knows? The only thing I care about is if it goe's BANG! |
As for the air pocket- My understanding is that none of the commercial ammo has it. Who the hell knows? The only thing I care about is if it goe's BANG!
That would be funny since nearly all of the commercial 7.62x39mm has an air pocket -- a huge one in the case of Wolf -- in their FMJ offerings. |
Since it came up in another forum :dgrin: Left to right: Uly 8M1 'nipple' type (as seen in Silver Bear "effect" ammo), Klimovsk, Klimovsk, Wolf, Barnual, Uly 8M2 FMJ, early Klimovsk with 150gr bullet, Early Barnaul. |
Seeing is believing. I have a bunch of Wolf. :) RIKA |
Is any of the 5.45x39 currently coming into the country corrosive? |
Was any of it ever made corrosive? I don't know whent he Soviets switched to noncorrosive primers. I'd probably consider any surplus ammo to be corrosive unless I knew for certain otherwise. I doubt that any of the commercial stuff is corrosive. |
