and he ADMITS he never checked out the THV, RBCD, the ORIGINAL Glaser, nor the PPS solid copper hp (100 grs, 2000 fps in .45 ACP). People are stupid man. Like Siefried hot-rodding the 22-250 and even the 240 Weatherby, but not the .45 ACP. Talk about a waste of time (on such varmint rds) crap, they are ALREADY out at the edge, and the .45 ACP hasn't had 10% as much work done on it. Of course, what do you expect of a guy whose self defense gun is a 2.5" 357 in a BOOT holster? :)

That’s because most old school gun writers fixate on long arms.
I have read tests on RBCD, El Caminos "Cutter, geco's/DN "BAT", "GAS", "KTW", "PMC's tubular ultra", The plastic "Thunderzap", Cirillo's "Pingrabber" and "Lawgrabber", the "Beehive", "Extreme shock"..etc.
Lots of gimmicky rounds that could be improved, but they don't want to experiment or do research, they just want to pitch new products.
That’s because most gun writers are just lame in that way.
I haven’t bought a Guns and Ammo in more years than I can remember.
They rehash the same articles over and over and the same subjects over and over.
They never really test any guns, as they don’t want to piss off the manufacturer...read: potential advertiser.

A real interesting article with good information in it is rare.
Maybe one for every 4 or 5 issues.
Hell, even when they do have a good article it is usually edited for space or just plain devoid of pertinent information like load data and barrel length .This is a classic...chrono'd velocities but no Bbl length listed and no specific gun models listed or pics.

Very good commentary there, Chippathingy. Now I have a question.

You say, "That’s because most gun writers are just lame in that way."

That is a very strange way to describe anyone - the word "lame" I mean. Why use that word? Sounds like someone else I know.

The original post was about gun writers not writing about special purpose handgun rounds. I listed a few. Forgot the Remy's
All copper tubular rounds Remmy made and discontinued years ago.
A friend of mine had some for his SW M29.
They where about 180gr at 1800 or some shit.
Different from the El Caminos as those are steel.
