AR-15 Magazines

Any ideas on whose selling good one's at a decent price? Son tell's me he has exactly six 30 rounders. WHAT? WHAT? He need at least ten more.

I'd check on ammoseek for best prices; they list magazines as well as ammo now.

Personally, my absolute go-to magazine are Okay (formerly NHMTG) brand. My "always loaded in the gun closet" AR magazines are NHMTG's, and if I were going to Fallujah, Chicago, or some other third-world cesspool, it would be Okay's I'd want, bar none. They can be had for $11-$12 with magpul followers and imo are the best AR mags on the planet. Obviously, that's personal opinion, but I like them better than any other brand. Lancer L5AWM would probably be my second choice, with the caveat that in one of my Lancers, the really-long PPU 75-grain HP stuff is snug and hangs up sometimes. With any other ammo I've tried, they've been fine, and if you like a mag with viewable round-count, the Lancer is hard to beat imo. You couldn't pay me enough to trust my life to magpul AR mags, but that's heresy to a lot of people.

Fwiw, this is how much I like NHMTG/Okay magazines. They're one of the very few things I've bought enough of to take care of my grandkids' lifetime needs. Only 15-18 are in actual usage rotation, the rest are just put back in storage:

Thanks John. My thinking and yours on the amount of AR magazines on hand are close. Jumped on it. They had 49 30 rounders left I got 16 of those and 10 20 rounders that I prefer. I thought ammoseek only sold ammo. No .22LR, surprisingly enough.

I've never seen any need of anything but one of the Colt 20 rders and the GI aluminum 30 rders. 3-4 of them is plenty. You'll never survive having to reload it twice in any one fight and probably not even once. That's just too damned much missing and you're stupid for being out in daylight and not having a silencer on your fighting rifle.

Hard to argue with that. If you own more than 3-4 magazines, you will wander around in daylight without a silencer.

Fwiw, John, in training scenarios (playing 'bad guy' for all kinds of scary people) I sometimes got 'killed' while on my first magazine, and sometimes went through more than seven magazines in a fight; from actual direct engagements to break-contact use. Actual first-hand experience trumps assumptions; sorry.

I like to have at least 200 rounds in magazines when I wander around in
daylight. Having to much ammunition is like having too much money.

A silencer doesn't make you invisible or invincible.

You don't always get to dictate the rules of engagement. what happens if someone stumbles across your garbage bags shelter, or a bunch of someone - and they have even a slight clue?
