I can't see why anyone bothers to own more than one. So the "new" one has a different type of safety or trigger pull. so effing what? It's not faster to hit with, it's not going to hit harder, it's not more concealable. So why bother with it? This is all assuming that missing8-9x (ie, double stack mag is worth having, much less an advantage)
So your second premise is that an STI widebody 1911 is no faster to hit with than a Steyr GB? If that’s true, then what’s the disadvantage of a DA trigger?
A different trigger pull can absolutely have a major bearing on hit speed. Think 1911 vs. VP70, or P35 vs. Beretta 92.
A different safety also can have a bearing on hit speed. Think 1911 vs. P38, or Star PD vs. M&P Shield.
As far as "owning more than one" of something, once again you seem to forget your own postings. Just since yesterday alone, you've posted how you've owned 30 1911's (between officer, commander, and govt models), a half-dozen stars (which are functionally nearly identical to 1911's), AND four of the browning "wonder-nines" you're talking about here. Adding in the fourteen others that you talk about owning before you were 21, and it's forty-four guns right there that you brag about owning or having owned; more than 30 of which (the 1911's and star's) are nearly identical in function and controls. That's not only more handguns than I own, it may be more handguns than I've owned over the course of my life. And that doesn't include the many .22 conversion kits or the carbines, smg's, etc, that you've talked about owning.
And even though everybody here was gracious enough to not give you grief about wasting so much money on so many nearly identical guns; when someone mentions having four of something, you just can’t stop yourself from doing exactly that.
if you've seen one, you've seen them all, basically. Smith was smart to offer the various backstraps and the option of SA or DA trigger pulls. Have to see how one handles for wifey, if a speed lever is needed on the safety, etc.
I wonder if all airsots are the same? Would a 9MM Luger be the same as a CZ75b? Would a Glock 19 be the dame as a Colt 1`911 in 9MM? Are Women the same age all the same?
yes, I don't keep track of all the variants. I dont think that they offer anything of real value vis a vis the 1911, except price and it's not much of a price difference, if you know how to work on the filipino 1911's. $100 or so difference, $200 at most, depending upon used vs new, etc.
Just not sure what you were referring to on the "option of SA or DA trigger pulls". All M&P's are the same. They call it a DA, but in use it's much closer to SA really; a fairly creepy/crawly SA most times until you clean it up.
