After a nice lunch with the Wife, I'll be heading south to hunt Coues. I'm going to use my .280, it's one of my goto hunting rifles. Should be fun. We identified where the water holes that have water are located. (Great use of a map) and planned our approaches (another great use of a map) this year I'm just going to settle for a legal deer, no trophies. if I don't post anything - everyone have a great thanksgiving, including you Boati. |

Tasty, little critters. The hardest deer to hunt. They taste better than any other deer out there - though I've never had a fallow or Sitka. My goal is to end up with about 25lbs of ground deer meat, mixed with 10% pork fat. Last edited by Dorobuta; 11-25-2020 at 03:13 PM. |

from a couple years ago, I was 3 miles from the nearest road, so I had to bone the deer and pack it out.... here it is hanging in a bag, and the mount I did for the antlers. They were so nice and symmetric, I thought I'd keep them: ![]() ![]() I hung the bag to help with cooling and to keep it away from any small critters. |

well, I could have easily had a number of does, if they were legal. I had 4 walk no more than 50 yds in front of me, they never knew I was there. I should not have passed up on a couple of spikes and fork horns I saw early on. Oh, well, that's why it's called hunting. now it will be archery deer and then handgun Javelina Last edited by Dorobuta; 12-04-2020 at 05:43 PM. |

Same here. My Son got a Six pointer opening morning and I had four Doe go past me I could have taken two legally but waited. So nothing for me this year. That's OK though, we split the meat every year.
