"think" 223 can't pierce both lungs of moose?

or elk or the biggest bear? think any critter is going anywhere with a 1/4" hole in both lungs? 1/4 mile tops, folks. No more often or likely you are to NEED to take a big critter if shtf, a very few rds of 223 ball will suffice. Unless you can't hit a target that's a foot square, for god's sake.

223's got plenty of penetration, folks. Big pussies just can't STAND the idea that such a handy size carbine/rd can do the job, but smart people just take what's available and go do whatever needs to be done. The 11" AR permits the use of an EFFECTIVE silencer while still having a handy size and weight of longarm. 308 can't do that. Making noise, if shtf, is a stupid idea. Ergo, you need a silenced short AR, in 223, or all you're doing is running your stupid mouth on the Net.

In an SBR- with or without a suppressor- my preference is for a larger bore size...I know there are better 5.56 loadings tailored for the <16 inch barrels, but in my own experience I got more efficient usage from a 10-12 inch 7.62x39... I agree, the .308 does NOT shine in that role( you effectively turn it into a 7.62x39 when you run that shirt a barrel... It COULD work with a heavyweight subsonic, but then you'd be better with OTHER than an autoloader... With the 5.55&5.45,16 inches are about as short as I like. Just a personal preference, not an immutable rule .

giving up the .22lr conversion unit is a very bad idea, for training, foraging and fighting
