Sig P938's safety lever design is atrocious

wtH would they not just copy something as perfect as the speed lever for the 1911? the angle of the Sig's shelf is all wrong, the lever itself doesn't extend nearly far enough forward. The sharp edges on its underside made her thumb sore in less than 20 re-engagements. The Galloway Precision's trigger with over-travel stop and their weaker mainspring helped the trigger pull a lot, she says. But it's got a square front, requiring a smith to grind a proper curve on it and re-serrate it. Silver brazing a set of properly shaped and rounded thumb levers (ambi) was complicated by the safety's being stainless steel. The original mainspring would have to be used for practice were it not for the wussy reloads being employed. 125 gr lrn at 800 fps fixes the threat of the slide's pounding the frame too hard with the weaker mainspring in place. Now she can perform from ccw about as well as the average cop can manage with his duty rig (Ie, about half good enough to be ccwing it).. She'll be a citizen soon, have FFL, too.

The aluminum Split Nose bullets are a lot cheaper to make than the copper ones and even at 2200 fps don't seem to cause much of a fouling problem, with Lee sizer lube and a grease groove. Probably because very little of the bullet's siides touch the rilfing and most of the engagement is done by the "skirt" of the hollowbase, which is of course easily swaged-down in the rifling.. Without the slit in the bullet noses/bases, she's able to group 6" with it, from sitting braced, at 25 yds. The slits, made with an exacto tiny hack saw, seem to cut the accuracy in half, but that's ok. If and when it's done with a precision slittlng tool in a horizontal lathe, it'll group 6" at 50 ft, which is 1/3rd better than the original Glaser ammo could manage, before they started compressing the shot pellets into a single mass. Under lethal. attack, she'd never be able to reliably hit a 6" mark at 12 yds, and neither could you. Fortunately, there's never any need for such accuracy, by a civilian woman in the US.

**** you, garand. you wouldn't know something useful if it slapped you right across the face. You've proven that right here, for 10+ years.

ROFLMAO! How many matches did you and wifey shoot last year Melvin? My wife and I shot 25, not including practice. We might not shoot in a manner that you approve of, or with the firearms that you fantasize about owning, but we at least pull triggers. After all marksmanship is a perishable skill.

I'm lost on this part. Women have less need for accuracy than men in self defense situations..?

Melvin, must be off his meds lately, certainly when my wife shoots she want the best quality ammo that I can build for her that gives her the accuracy to win in her category.

And even when starting a thread to rant about a mechanical device, we get the inevitable narco-induced drift; this time into Topic F.

I said NEED, dip****, not just want for pointless bs matches. Women don't get into the sort of crap that men do, much less likely to need anything more than gut shooting at 6 ft and less.

Melvin, in the real world, the threat of armed violence, is gender neutral!

What threat or situation is a civilian man in the US going to face that a civilian woman is inherently immune from?

I'd actually like to see a simple answer to my simple (and repeated) question: why is accuracy more important for a civilian man than a civilian woman?

I see not much has changed with Melvin. What has a split nose bullet, a Woman's need for less accuracy??, and a fantasy FFL got to do with s Sig P938?

Gang threats..? You believe women are safe from gang threats?

‘Honor-fight’..? Grownups don’t get into gunfights over insults. And for that matter, why would an insult-instigated gunfight occur at long range anyway?

Road rage..? Women are every bit as bad about road rage as men are, and this is ten years of street cop experience talking.

Seriously; you’re saying women are immune from gang threats and road rage, and men get into ‘honor-fights’ at long range..?

Not that I’m aware of, but there are some twisted people out there and I do live in a very Deliverance-esque part of the world. And I am mind-bogglingly sexy, so there is that to consider...
