arm first hit is an error. why blame it on bullet?

why give up proper performance/depth (ie, sub 10") to get what MIGHT (now and then) help by penetrating more arm/wrist? get GOOD hits, or expect failure, man! Why handicap what GOOD hits can achieve (ie, have inadequate shock and overpentration) to get the low-level, low probability "help" of greater penetration? If you aint a cop, you'll probably get into BIG trouble for shooting at sideways men or guys using cover. So forget the latter, or at most, load every other rd as a "penetrator" type of ammo. It's highly likely to take you 6-7 shots to get 2-3 good hits, ya know. It's also pretty likely to need at least a couple of good hits, with a REALLY shocking and destructive load, to stop somebody (if a mere .22lr wouldn't have stopped him, that is). .22 hits DO often suffice, ya know. So do hits that "only" pierce wrist/arm, etc.

Actual physical incapacitation takes at LEAST 4 seconds to occur, unless a support bone (ie, femur) or brain or spine are hit. With the POSSIBLE exception of a brain hit, the other hits are fluke accidents. So, if a hit DOES result in an immediate stop, it's from psychological quitting. Fortunately, this often works.

We KNOW, from carotid chokes and be-headings, that the brain can still function for 4+ seconds without blood flow. NOTHING about a hit to the chest can do more than stop blood flow or organ function. A hit to the heart can't do so. The mammalian brain ALWAYS maintains 4+ seconds of oxygenated blood INSIDE of the cranium. Blow apart the heart, and there is still 4+ seconds worth of directed functioning possible to the man, and IF the heart "pumped' just before being destroyed, ANOTHER 4+ second's worth of oxygenated blood just got sent to the brain. 4-8 seconds can mean that the man shoots, stabs or clubs you 16-32 times before he's incapacitated. So you'd better be GLAD that "mere" psyche stops are so common, and choose ammo that maximizes the shock/pain effect that increase the "desire" to stop fighting.

Deep-penetrating, poor or no expansion loads are not what you want for man stoppers. It's very simple. Heavy/slow bullets don't expand well in flesh and blood. That's provable on animals. Nothing about a man's flesh and blood makes it more likely/faster for a jhp to expand. The truth is just the reversae, since his muscles are weaker, often very flabby, in fact and his clothing often "clogs" the jhp nose cavity, delaying or stopping exansion of the hollowpoint.
