a 1911 .45 that 'only" groups 8" at 50 yds will shoot as well as you do, in BE matches. 2/3rds of the shots are at 25 yds, same 3.5" 10 ring. as at 50 yds. To be able to group 8" at 50 yds, you have to group 3.5" at 35 yds, AND you get the value of any ring that your bullet "cuts. So your group size can be center to center 1/2" wider and still get all 10's. :)

The 8 ring is 8" wide. If you keep ALL your shots in that 8 ring, your score will be 90+ for 10 shots. Add 200 for perfect scores at 25 yds and you'll be at 290 points, out of 300, which is a VERY fine score, one handed with a .45.

So all this 'accurizing' of a .45 is just BS, for over 90+% of BULLSEYE shooters and for 100% of combat competitors. It only exists to let a smith charge you $400 for 2 hour's work. :)and make you THINK that barbed wire is LUBE.
