$300 star pony is smaller, lighter, SA and has a locked breech. so you can safely hot load it to have at least 35% more power than the makarov and you can put the 380 star in your front pants pocket. cant do so with the makarov. the mak is as big and heavy as some .45's, so why would you settle for having so much less power, by choosing the mak? your life aint worth an "extra" $300 or so? sheesh
Makarovs CAN be run with hot(hotter) loads- but a few( simple) spring swaps are in order to go hotter than milspec ball.I generally use Wolff Gunsprings- 18.5-22 lb recoil springs in Makarov and P64 pistols. CZ82s were designed to run with hotter Czech ammo, but its always prudent to assess and replace their recoil springs as needed.
A good condition example of either of the three ( or 4 if you consider the P83 ) will take a REASONABLE ( read occasional) amount of the Buffalo Bore stuff, but as a rule I replaced all relevant springs in my Radoms,Makarovs, CZ52 etc. As long as reliability, Safety and accuracy is up to snuff, I use them.
There are also alloy frames- PA63 and the like. They're OK,but I would NOT run them warm- or even a lot with standard ball. As you stated, they're blowback AND alloy frames- not my preference.
