and if your longarm concerns are only about "foraging", you're stuck in a 12 years old's fantasy. you are many times more likely to need your CCW pistol or a rented satellite phone than you are to need a longarm for foraging. At least, this is so in the lower 48 states, and also HI, so it's true for 99% of the US.
the "survival pistol" is thus bs, at least, for any examples for which your pocket 9mm is not the best choice. and your silly single shot 410/22 is bs, too. its either nothing much for a gun sort of problem, or it;s shtf. If you need a longarm, it's shtf, and then what you need is a silenced M4 and a .22 unit, luminous sights and nvd goggles. not some joke of a single shot, or pump 12, or bolt action.,
if you are "just trying to get home' for shtf, maybe you won't be able to have an AR with you (taken down, in a backpack, attache case, or gym bag. Maybe you have your pistol when it all goes south, but your car is stolen, set afire, surrounded by nutballs, etc, and you are cut off from your rifle. Most likely, tho, you are too lazy and cheap to OWN the proper tool for the job. Why not just ADMIT that?
sure, for such situations, a belt pistol offers a LITTLE advantage for an actual shooting, but HOW do you conceal it and still access it swiftly, while wearing a pack, hmm? the harness and belt pin your shirt or jacket down, so you can't access anything on your belt, or in a shoullder rig.
so you're stuck with a fanny pack, or , if you are smart enoiugh to use a pocket 9mm, with a front pants pocket holster.
Belt carry is a pita. I did it for 14 years, constanly and it sucks. Once you actually try the handiness of a pants pocket setup, and once you have real skill and a truly effective, yet easily controled load/gun combo for your pocket rocket, you'll wonder why you ever bothered with a belt gun for ccw.
