My Step Father passed away and I inherited his pistol.

So now I have to figure out the whole .45 (long) Colt thing. I'm thinking this might not be a bad gun to use for handgun Javelina hunting.

Thoughts on loads, etc. would be appreciated.

I'm not sure, I think he had it for about 10 years or so. My Mom gave it to me after the funeral - neither she or my sister wanted it. Me being the gun nut of the family, I will cherish it and shoot it.

You lucky Dog! I had one about fifteen years ago and traded it (foolishly) for a new Beretta 92 for my Son. Six inch barrel with great sights and the trigger pull was, well, what you pray for in a double action revolver and seldom find. I thought it was better than the Colt Python, which is saying something. I'm sure there are factory loads out there that would be adequate for javelina, they run pretty small, no? Anyway, good on you!
