I bought a bersa thunder around FEB 2009 and looked all over for one and while hard to come by found one. I have heard the demand increased and that the newer ones were not as good. I am not sure where I fall into new or older as it was around that year they picked up the pace. I know I have fired several rounds the fixed barrel and the straight in load design and tapper on the bore entry area seems to make all go smooth in cycle right out of the box. For me it has been the gun to have for the price I paid around 290.00 I looked at a bersa later that was a 40 and the 45 I saw the 9mm but it was the thicker higher capacity one and it was very heavy unloaded as a viewed it in that form. I have heard some talk of bersa problems but mine seems good the 380 I have heard stories and a caliber war is on. I have to say all would love a shotgun slug or buck has a basic defense gun. So with the 9mm yes well pushed and said to be size compared gun wise but better stopping. I have heard the 380 is to small and stories of such. I have watched lots of videos of shootings on tape with different calibers sometimes they miss and other times the bad guy sees the gun being pulled and is gone out the door before he gets it out that is more so on the first having to realize what is happening and then the brain to process. So in these cases actual ones no one is wild westing so much as they are running from each other and by no means asking what caliber or looking at the hole it made somewhere the robber or bad guy is in retreat mode. Not to say always true but I am not in the idea of charge mode but retreat and stop the threat. I wanted to talk about bersa here and say that I rate it as a good gun and have to agree with the man who says it would get rust just by breathing on it that is a downfall lots of oil and cleaning the gun if it is carried around much it seems to get spots but that may be more so due to the humidity here but, I would think where the gun comes from that humid would be in consideration in the making of it.

I bought one for my Daughter too. It was hard to find as was a spare magazine. She likes it a lot and no issues with accuracy or function. I bought a .22 Bersa Thunder myself and it is a sweet little gun. It also was tough to find. Bersa's are getting popular. I think these "bad run" problems are in someones head. Remember the way Taurus has been run down and Glock also.
