Shopping an shooting today

Hit a couple gun shops today on way to the range, hot, so I only shot the 45LC 15 times an watched as FordPerfect made little one hole groups with his Anschutz bolt action pistol. To some, worthless but lots of fun to shoot.
Found only one gun an magazine for a Govt model 38 super. Gun is a NEW IN BOX model 27-2 Smith 4in. nickle, wood case, all cleaning stuff an screwdriver unused. Only factory test fired on three chambers. Mint an pristine as can be. And a decent price. Still a few hundred left in it if I decide to sell.
3 day wait here in IL before I can pick up. Pics then. Not sure on year yet, will get it Lettered after picked up.
FordPrefect likes this.

Built 5 different loads x 35rds each of .30-06. First powder up is IMR 4227, just need to figure when I hit the range though. Friday my wife and I leave for the Canadian Western Regionals, 5 days of shooting in the following 7 days.

You traded the govt .38 super for the Smith 27 or the other way around?

Your shooting the 1917 Enfield, right? Is it all original? What are '17's going for in you area?

For some reason one with decent wood and a good barrel will bring you about $875.00 lately. I'm kind of shaking my head on prices up here lately. We are in the middle of an economic slump and people are asking ridiculously high prices. Doesn't make sense. Mine is all original, no butcher job.

An original 1917 sells for around $650.00 USD here. More depending on manufacturer. Bubbas go for about half that.

I was afraid you meant you traded off a 27-2. I love N-frame smiths, especially in 4 and 5 inch.

Is Ford Perfect from Walshville? Did he go to my mom's funeral? An old friend did that who had such a gun, showed me a half inch or better group from 50 yds with it. I don't recall if it was scoped, I think that he said he was looking for one in .22 Hornet at the time. That was about 2003. Such a gun is the only thing that makes any sense in Ill, driving the back roads and popping blackbirds on the phone wires. :-) If had one in .22lr with subsonics for small stuff and one in Hornet for crows and chucks, be a nice setup, assuming you can afford to tie up almost 2k in 2 such guns.
