What do you think pof Trump now?

His latest, and probably best showing of his contempt for the rule of law and our Constitution. "take the gun's now, we'll look at due process later." Not fake news or a clever political chess move. He has sold us, and the Constitution out.

Not a huge Trump fan; he was just the better of the options at the time. Imagine if Hillary was in office now instead of Trump - I suspect it would be substantially worse.

The way I see it, with both sides and their extreme, knee jerk reactions to the problem, this is political posturing as they will never attempt to find common ground.

no common ground is possible when the other side is irrational and tyrannical. what can they give us? nothing. So why give them anything?

On the 'common ground' thing, anyone who actively seeks to punish innocent people (ie, take away their legally-purchased property) is someone with whom I'm morally opposed to having common ground.

I received an email on this topic last week; an article by Howard Galganov, who is usually fairly good but had a retarded comparison & recommendation this time. He suggested in the article that the political 'right' go along with the banning of AR-15's specifically, and the 'left' go along with the banning of late-term abortions.

From the article:
Quote:
Compromise is often good.

On gun law, Republicans oppose banning assault weapons such as the AR-15, the one the Parkland shooter used, because of the numbers, power and contributions of gun owners and the NRA. Democrats oppose banning late-term abortion because of the numbers, power and contributions of the rising left, feminists and Planned Parenthood.

The idea: Trade banning assault weapons for banning late-term abortion. Make illegal a killing machine and a killing procedure.
In both cases the lives of children would be saved.

Wouldn’t this clean some of the air? Wouldn’t we all breathe a little easier?

Bear in mind when reading my reply to the email, that the person who forwarded me this email is a customer, a former carrier pilot, and someone I consider a friend.

My reply:
Quote:
Just FYI and to vent a little, I take HUGE umbrage with the suggestion at the end; the suggestion of banning both AR’s and late-term abortions with the claim that it would “make illegal a killing machine and a killing procedure”. Late-term abortion kills 100% of the time. I own eight AR’s, and they have killed a total of ZERO people. I shoot between 8,000 and 9,000 rounds of ammo a year, have fired more than 350,000 rounds in my life, and have killed a total of ZERO people.

I usually like Galganov, but in this case, he sounds like every other emotion-based asshat in this discussion and can lick my anus. And I’m pretty sure Jesus would tell him the same.

Cool down, Melvin. I'm positive they won't get YOUR AR-15.

What's different this time? Last time, they got ALL your guns and ammo without a fight, didn't they..?

Just curious, have they started arming meter maids yet in the US. It would be a more dignified way for Melvin to surrender next time.

Talk is cheap Melvin, you have already stated that if the SHTF, that "wifey" and the kids are on their own.

That's good, if it's true that you would indeed fend for others in your family now. Used to be (as recently as this year), you said the opposite.

Melvin, it is not that I won't talk about making silencers, I just don't see a need for them currently. Remember, in my country suppressors are heavily regulated to the police and military only.
