x 18 years, that's around the world 3x. Now I only walk about 5 hours a week. My calves are so big that I do standing calf raises 20 reps, with 150 lbs. i used to use stairstepping for my aerobics, but it over-developed my calves so much that I had to switch to the stationary bike.

I have walked a marathon in a day, many times. and a few days, 30 miles. I met very few "gun guys in those years, at most half a dozen and none of them liked to walk more than about half an hour.. When I have a knowledgable gun guy to talk to (on the phone, normally) I can walk at least half a day and never notice having done so. I live and breathe this stuff. My wife likes it, but a hour or so of doing it, (and half an hour of listening) and she's had enough for the day. :-)

Where I live there are plenty of inter connecting roads that form 3 rough loops that I use to walk on. Plus varied up and down terrain steep inclines to mild slops. Roughly 6, 8 and 10 mile circuits. That and when things allow there are some good and rough hiking trails, old logging roads or just plain good old cross country brush busting out in the Ozark National Forrest. |

yes, hills, mud, brush or snow can REALLY change things. by a lot. as in cut in half the distance you can cover in a day, and GREATLY enhance the chance of a heavy load messing up your legs or bad. I had been packing 30, then 40 lbs then 50 lbs for a total of 20 months or more, besides having a very physical job, and tore a calf ligament just jumping a little 2 ft wide stream. Had to dump out the sandbags, limp the mile home, and go back for them with the car If you aint humping 60 lbs all day, several times a week, you CANT hump 60 lbs all day, I guarantee it.

Stay active physically. When possible, vary it somewhat. I still run hills, run stairs, do PT etc.A bit of kettlebell and heavy bag work as well. Look at it this way- an hour of sustained effort daily or close to bit is a " long term investment ". And,most of all; find the fun. |

She's my retirement plan, basically. When she's a citizen, FFL, after a year, title II and class III dealer. :-) They'd best NOT deny an Asian female! :-) big time lawsuit there. I hope they try it, actually. We wont have to risk anything to make a million in a couple of years.
