big dugout means lots of work

which takes a long time, which means dozens have brought stuff there, seen the dirt, etc, and that means 100's more have been told about it, and filed away that info, under the mental heading "just in case of need". Same as 100's have done with John in Ark's building. Guaranteed, completely unnecessary trouble, cause you're too lazy to do a night's digging.

Hundreds of people have mentally filed away the idea of using my alarm business as a place to hole up in bad times? Is this also true of the general contractor next door, the auto parts store across the road, and the dentist's office two buildings down?

If not, what makes me so special?

Godallmighty, get past your fear of living IN society, and basing all your musings and daydreaming on some yearned-for fall OF society. Life's too short to spend every day filled with never-ending anxiety about things over which we have no control. Take some steps, make some preps, and be done with it; and live life 'in the now' as they say.

Three days later and still no response...

This is supposed to be a forum, not a blog.

big also means more risk of collapse, much worse problem if it gets full of water, more likely to hit a spring, or boulder, all because you're dumb about what the dugout is supposed to accomplish, which is be un-detected. No point in having one that is so full of problems. If you can't get out of sight with your digging, in one night, without showing a light, or leaving any sign the next day, your strategy, operations and tactics suck.

15 years, we aint GOT. We might not even have 5, the way things are going. Tim Geitner admitted to Paul Ryan that SS will be completely broke by 2027 and there's no way to fix it.
