Spider hole

Still wondering what you are doing for water, lights, sewer in your spider hole. Kerosene? Candles? How many candles does it take for a year? Got some of those like they use in the movies? You know, the ones that light up a room like a 500 watt bulb.
We were discussing (sanely) just the other day about more kerosene an wicks for the lamps if the 750 gallon propane tanks run out.
Water supply here is pretty good 177 acres x 20ft. You do the math. I do not think you are going to be able to get anywhere close to the concrete damm. Houses here have their own filter systems, been in place for years.

why would you need lights? I've stated many times that you come out for water, access cached food, and dispose of wastes at night. I've also stated that if shtf, you dig a horizontal shaft from the spiderhole and have a solar charger for the laptop. I've further stated that you'll need a lot of sedatives. So, if you're below ground, you're either asleep or studying stuff you'll need to know. A plastic bucket for wastes and another for water covers what's actually needed. Once back in the hole, you fill the sawyer filter bag and drink as needed. Dont take food back into the dugout, cause the scent will attract dogs, which will get noticed by people. Laptop has its own light, ya know.

If you want natural light, since the overburden is just a foot of dirt, you can run some black- painted PVC to the surface, with a screen cover vs bugs and rain. That will let some light into the shaft during daylight hours.

If you have no lights, how are you supposed to study in the spider hole? Another part of the fantasy that doesn't pass the smell test!

Oh, it will smell plenty after having a "Honey Bucket" used by three people in the dark.

Have you dug one? How long did it take with tree roots in the way? Use a backhoe or a shovel?
What makes you think that if SHTF there is going to be internet access? Anything downloaded will be old news.Think a better plan would be to abandon ship an fly to the moon. One person could then be king or warlord of a vast empire. Just think, make your own rules.
I would kick in a pile of lumber, Terry would give you a a handful of nails. John in AR might have some glass for a window. Garand will supply a quart of paint. You already have your mylar spacesuit. Sounds like a plan.

who would need the net? are you unable to get stuff in a form that stays in your laptop? :-) Pretty sad if so. I once dug a 4x4 x 7 ft deep start on a well, as a 13 year old kid, with just pick and shovel in one day. That night it rained so hard, the "well" in a gully (I didn't site it, my bro in law did) that the hole filled up and collapsed the wall. 2 ft x 2 ft x 5ft in one night is no problem at all, even when you have to make the concealed lid and discretely dispose of the dirt. I just dumped it in the creek. If a little woman can dig such a hole, even you pissants should be able to do it. I had wifey do it as a test of her stick to itiveness. :-)

Joe, did you know John R's gf (now his wife)? he's on strawberry lane, west of Koke Mill, a bit off of Isles. She's got a nice place there. My wife and his hit it off really well. Wanted to show her off to Bill P but didn't get around to it.

New starts are great, but starting a topic and then refusing to respond to questions in the very threads you've started is nothing more than the kind of drive-by pontification tossed out by televangelists.

And as with many televangelists, it's a sign of someone who's unsure of their claims.
