55 Grain Wolf Gold

Is this stuff as good as they say? I can get 1,000 rounds for $270.00 if I pick it up. Thanks for any input.

This stuff's made in Taiwan. Does that count?

Wolf Gold from Taiwan is very good stuff. It consistently gets rave reviews from guys on arfcom.

If I were even slightly considering gun-related purchases, I'd frankly be jumping in with both feet and doing so now. With the political circus we have going on now and the current social climate with the recent mass shootings, there's no way I'd be waiting if I could avoid it.

Got bored while waiting on dinner to come off the grill, so thought I'd find some reviews that I've seen before. They're all pretty positive-seeming.

From: https://www.ar15.com/ammo/project/Se...55gr%20FMJ.htm

Quote:
...The muzzle velocity for the 10-shot string of the Wolf Gold 55 grain FMJ ammunition was 3213 FPS with a standard deviation of 25 FPS. For comparison, IMI M193 had a muzzle velocity of 3274 FPS when fired from the same barrel, with a standard deviation of 18 FPS.

... three 10-shot groups of the Wolf Gold were fired in a row with the resulting extreme spreads:

2.13
2.60
2.44

for a 10-shot group average extreme spread of 2.39. The three 10-shot groups were over-layed on each other using RSI Shooting Lab to form a 30-shot composite group. The mean radius for the 30-shot composite group was 0.76.

For the last month or so I've been sending quite a bit of the new Wolf Gold .223 down range. It's really good stuff, and honestly it surprised me. Here's more info.

Thanks for the information, John. Picked up 1500 rounds instead of 1,000. Overkill, but who knows? Also stopped at Wal-Mart and found CCI Min-iMags on sale for $7.47 per hundred. First time in 2 1/2 years this store has carried them.
