Progressive Miltary Shoot

I got invited to a Military Shoot to be held late this Summer. What's interesting (it's still in the planning stage) is that it's to be shot with Military Firearms starting from pre-1900 until the present. Both pistol and rifle. For example, Springfield Trapdoor and Colt SAA. Krag .30/40 and Colt .38. Springfield '03 and Colt 1911 or .45 Revolver. On through the AR-15 Clones and Beretta. The guns will not have to be US. They can be any country from the time frame. For example, SMLE and Webley. Arisaka and Nambu. SKS and AK, Makarov and Tokarev. Well, you get the picture. I have no idea about scoring the shoot or ranges involved. I'm definitely going to compete if it works out.

Those old guns can be fun. I'm taking my Mauser M1896 with me this weekend to Great Falls. I emailed the long range director a while back and asked him to add a pre 1912 category. If he won't I'll still shoot my Shilo Sharps #3 Sporting Rifle in .45-70 and my 1905 Winchester M94 in .38-55 in the long range.

Side matches are on Friday and Main Matches Saturday & Sunday.

What does the Mauser shoot as far as caliber?

sounds completely regressive to me. Just a way for collectors to show off their stuff, make you envious, rent the stuff to you at ridiculous prices, maybe to get you to buy that obsolete stuff. At a time when a complete and utter pos president is actively breaking US law so as to aid a proven traitor, you'd better think a lot more about what you do with your time and money

6.5x 55mm Swedish, a very flat trajectory caliber, it was the Swedish Olympic caliber until 1938. I've put over 2,200 cast lead 160 grain Lyman GC bullets through the 2 I own, virtually no recoil. In the match that I took a buckle for 3rd place in Phoenix last February all 3 of the top 3 shooters were using a 6.5x55 Swede. Mine loves IMR 4227 with cast bullets.

Melvin, it is my time and my money and he is not my President, we have our own problems with our child Prime Minister. I have long gone past the age where I am envious of anything another shooter owns, if I see something I like, I just buy it. Unlike you, I am not limited to airsoft. Pay attention to history around you Melvin, regarding how many conflicts involve the successful use of "obsolete" firearms. Look at the Russians in '79, they lost Afghanistan to a bunch of mountain men armed with Lee Enfield rifles. A 103 year old Colt Government Model can kill a person just as dead as a brand new out of the box wonder nine can. Part of the enjoyment that I get out of shooting older firearms is making a 120-135 year old caliber to perform to its max, plus it is FUN!

I don't see anyone inviting you to shoot anything, anywhere, so don't worry about it. You can always be counted on to show extreme jealousy. I've got enough stuff to cover all the bases. Colt AR-15's and Beretta's are regressive?
