I know when we talk AK we love to say that it can take any ammo and I believe it. However what ammo gives you the best accuracy with your AK? I'm shooting a lot of Blazer for my hand guns and am finding that it is dirty, not as accurate and I get FTF's and FTE's as well. I say this because I use to always be told to use American ammo but as we see that ammo QC is starting to slip. With the recent crunch in the supply chain I think they just slammed stuff out as fast as they could with little concern. I am not an individual that subscribes to the apocalypse theory. I do believe in situations like Katrina. It is those scenarios that I prepare for and I can see the need for 4 or 5 clips of premium ammo and a reserve of a case or two of mil surp. I have the mil surp covered but with money tight it would be great to have others speak to certain ammo's reliability and accuracy in order to cut down on cost plus the availability of said items (you go in buy two boxes find they work great and head back only to find they are sold out.... which has happened quite frequently). |

Cor-Bon DPX (don't choke when you see the price) and Hornady v-max produce the best accuracy and terminal effect. Cor-Bon's 150-gr SP load does well, as does Winchester's 123-gr SP. The Wolf Military Classic with the 124-gr Saspan HP (if your rifle will feed it, Romanian ones tend to have problems) is OK for accuracy and tends top fragment at close range, giving good terminal performance. In my experience, US made 7.62x39 FMJ ammo is no better than Wolf Black Box, it just costs more. |
