don't see the point of primitive survival studies.

A very minor amount of modern gear (and ability to use same intelligently) will bypass/exceed all the flint knapping/leathertanning, etc, bs you can ever come up with. I want my bro in law to learn knapping, cause it's a way that he can (maybe) make2-3k a year in his home country, which is a pretty good job, right from his home, with almost nothing in the way of gear. But as a means of producing something usable if shtf, it's a joke. So many will be dead, in a few months, that there's going to be plenty of steel knives, axes, machete's files, fishhooks, shovels, pvc pipe, plastic tarps, styrofoam insulation, etc, so why waste time learning to make same out of rocks, grass, or whatever? :-)

ok, so you can start a fire with handdrill and make a debris shelter, meanwhile catching pneumonia from the exposure! Why not just have the proper gear, so that it doesn't MATTER that you got wet? Be able to start a fire in a few seconds, despite having been drenched, man. It's not hard, with even some minor preparations!

How many effing times are you going to be so stupid about falling thru the ice? Why can't one of your lighters be in a waterproof bag? Why aint you got a matchcase with some storm-proof matches and a few vasolined cottonballs and a little knife of some sort on a necklace? Then if you have to shed everything else in order to survive, you've still got the means to have a fire in a minute flat. Why aint you got a freznel lense, a little 3 wick candle, a little tin full of charred punkwood in your pack? A couple of ozs of burden= major protection from a very likely threat.

Wtf says that you'll find the right materials with which to make a handrill or bowdrill, for god's sake (in less than hours of looking/making?) You'll only have a couple of minutes to do so, or risk a severe case of exposure, weakening your immune system. Why be so retarded about something so important and simple.? Why risk not having proper shelter/clothing ON you? Yeah, you might survive the immediate dunking, while becoming the walking dead (ie have pneumonia when there's enemies and starving dog packs all around you and you aint got sense enough to have lots of food and underground shelter).
