he served 22 years for killing a couple of game wardens. He was allowed to be working in the warden's garden, unsupervised, un-fenced, just a couple of years after his conviction. This was all in Idaho. He ran off, made his way to Riverside, CA. and was captured there, a month or so after he escaped.

Dallas supposedly just wanted to live in the woods and be left alone. Well, Canada is a lot closer to ID than is M Mexico. One hunk of woods in the Rockies is like any other, and when you've killed a couple of cops, and escaped prison, best take things a lot more seriously than he did.. Also, after killing the cops, he hung around that area of ID for 15 months! Sheesh. Could have walked to Canada in one month.

Maybe he wasn't prepared for our winters!
