editor of AH magazine. that was, for 10 years, like that was a lot of shooting with sucg a gun! :-) So, no, you aint gonna be wearing out a keltec 32 with all the practicing you do with it. I've had scores of 500 rd DAYS at the range. Once, in MO, I shot up a full 840 rd 223 ammo can, which holds about 1400 rds of .45's, in one day. I remember being shocked to see some of the SWPL guys, at the 1976 columbia conference, having lots of such ammo cans of .45 reloads with them. REal competitors live in a totally different world than the typical hunter/plinker.

I wasn't talking about 50 rounds a year wearing out a gun. I was talking about the lunacy of loading a 9-oz plastic gun with loads more than twice the power of normal. That's the equivalent of loading a 9mm to .41 magnum levels; it's simply asking for a catastrophic failure.

As have many of us. For that matter, when I mentioned going thru a class just a few months ago that ran ~700 .223's and ~200 9mm's in one day, your response was "what difference does carbine skill make?" Which frankly struck me as insane, coming from the guy who constantly preaches split times and such.

I confess I've never been shocked by ammo cans. And this also demonstrates another hypocrisy of yours. You constantly berate anyone who DOES have much ammo on hand.

Again, you're not the only one who's done things. I used to shoot monthly with John Dixon, who (iirc) twice reached #2 in ipsc world championships. One of the 1911's I have, John built for me back in 1990 or 1991. Never had his level of skill by any means, but some of us have certainly been exposed to 'real' competitors.

Yet you've not only never demonstrated "real competitor" status, you've never demonstrated even "plinker" status, have you...? You attended the Columbia conference and you even flew to Africa one time. Great. Show us your scores from some "world class" matches, if it's such a big part of actual history. I and many others have attended conferences and traveled places too; it doesn't make us James Bond or Rambo.

I'd forgotten him. Wasn't he a gunsmith as well?
