Good deal on Federal XM9001

Fwiw, SG Ammo has Federal's XM9001 9mm ammo for $299.80 per thousand ($14.99 per 50), plus $16 shipping on 1k. That's just 31 cents a round, which is a very good price for decent defensive ammo nowadays.

It's not a real commonly-encountered round; it's the same bullet as the 9BP and 9BPLE, loaded to almost the 9BPLE velocity. Main differences with the XM9001 are that it uses brass cases instead of nickel, and the bullet case-mouth is sealed, much like a military load. Some Canadian-contract item that Federal makes specifically for that one contract.

I've never used it personally, but I like the 9BP and I really like the 9BPLE, so I believe I'd be comfortable with this one.

Anyway, just a heads-up in case anyone is in need of a good deal on good 9mm ammo: http://www.sgammo.com/product/federa...ract-ammo-xm90

Fyi, they only have thirteen cases left in stock at the moment. (No, not my fault; I didn't buy any of it.)

Fwiw, just received an email from Target Sports - they have the XM-9001 version for only $14.95/50. If you buy a case of 1,000 rounds, they throw in free shipping as well.

In our area, sales tax is over 9%, so that works out to less than $13.75 per box if bought locally and having to pay sales tax.

The XM-9001 isn't 'exactly' 9BP-LE (which is one of my favorite 9mm factory loads), but it's the same bullet and runs almost 1,300fps from a 5" gun; so it's functionally about the same. Just doesn't have the nice nickel case.
