One is going

4in. Smith 586 Classic is going to either be sold or traded. Much as I tried to like it, just can't. Underlug, barrel rib an heavy barrel just make it too muzzle heavy. And it weighs as much as a N frame. Thought about cutting part of underlug off an machining rib down but still would have the heavy barrel. Or changing barrel an round butting it. Might trade for a model 24 been looking at.

I actually like the lug on the normal L-frames. Have a 4" 681 now, had a 4" 586 before that, and a 6" nickel 586 before that that I bought in 1983 iirc. The heavy lug does make it heavy to carry, but it makes shot recovery faster and that makes it worth the weight to me personally. Obviously, ymmv.

I saw a gun today that you would have loved. Gunsmith I was talking to had a 3 1/2" smith 27; it was pretty.

That is a great barrel length. Hard to find. Around here 4in. is the most common. I have a seldom seen 5in. unfired since it left the factory.
