Forget all these Split Lip

The popular, though imaginary, split nose bullets don't compare to the Firequest RIP rounds, .45 ACP 170 gr. 1020 fps. 9 (count 'em) 9 different wound channel's, When penetrating metal or plywood, the round acts as a FMJ, when striking flesh, 9 fragment's. 20 rounds, $53.80 Plus S/H.

Yeah, that would leave a mark. But,you park a hard cast flat point bullet, heavy for caliber and loaded on the warm side of sensible in my chest or head? I'll be just as dead. And on a budget.
I like the concept though... The barrier determines the integrity and weight retention of the bullet. How are the 9 segments bonded together?

split nose is AP, dumbass. Dead later is not the same thing as stopped instantly. ooh, a whole 400 ft lbs in a 5" .45, really great. 170 grs at 1000 fps is 9mm stuff. A well known IPSC load is 160 gr lrn over 7 or so grs of AA#7 at 1150 fps, 5" 9mm. 450 ft lbs. The smaller the segments and the lower the energy, the less penetration you get. Why settle for LESS power in a belt .45 than you can have in a pocket 9mm? that's stupid. Why settle for half the power that you could have in that same .45?

I agree that 170 grains@1000fps from a .45ACP in a well made gun is no big deal. You COULD sit that bullet on top of a bigger charge of a slower powder and run it hotter. I'm curious as to the composition and bonding of that 9 piece bullet.. Are they long for their diameter? What is their average OAL-for the bullet NOT the cartridge.
Ties in with an earlier critique of your high speed bullet design. I'm genuinely curious.

split 400 ft lbs 9 ways and what do you get? 45 ft lbs each, like a .22 short from a mini-revolver. trust that to penetrate enough if you want. I wouldn't. 500 ft lbs, split 2 ways, ok, pretty good for a pocket gun that recoils like a makarov. But in a belt gun, especially a 5" barrel, I want 800 ft lbs, split just 2 ways. Then adequate penetration is assured.2-3" of penetration MIGHT suffice, but 8-9" is a lot more likely to get the job done. in flesh and blood now, not jello.

so the 2-3 rds needed to save your life have to be "budget", eh? :-) OK, your life is only worth 50c to you. Sounds about right, actually. realistic eval of the facts of the matter. My starting point was that it had to be AP, and then I went on to get as much tissue destruction and shock as could be arranged. I succeeded quite admirably, actually, but then I dont care if the rds in my carry gun cost $50 each. cause I aint got 10k wrapped up in toy guns, like manually operated clunks.

I'm curious as to how the composition allows the bullet to break up uniformly in 9 pieces in flesh, but retain integrity, mass and penetration in harder barrier material.
And frankly, the graveyard has no shortage of residents who entered their state via " budget conscious means ". A bullet to the heart or the head is still a bullet to the heart or head.

I actually posted this as humor, because I too, am really tired of hearing this split lip stuff. No picture ever posted, no answer to John in AR's repeated questions, it's just smoke and mirror's AGAIN. If your truly interested it's www.firequest.com I got a flier from them. And Melvin, just shut up. Your a worthless liar.
