actual chrono tests done for "computer man"

LEAA eval in the 70s, showed that most 158 gr lhp's got only 950 fps out of 2.5" 357's. in other words, no expansion. Such guns are 7.5" long, like a Glock 17, which will get 160 gr swc's to 1100 fps, quite safely. So much for 357 "power".

said tests showed that Glaser 9mm's got about 90 grs to 1900+ fps in a 5" barrel. almost 700 ft lbs. My 9x21 loads are wussy by comparison.

Much as I like the .357 , I never cared much for the 2.5 inches(or less) barrel length on what many used for a BUG or CC. I feel the same about the .38 Special. Both calibers do significantly better in a 3 (or more)inch barrel.
Those super shorty snubs in .357 always struck me as " all flash"- literally. With the amount of unburned powder in most .357 loads, you wound up with a trashcan sized muzzle flash and .38 ballistics. I don't want to step in front of one,but between the reduced performance and the short ejector rods on many of them my preference always leaned elsewhere.

if you need to speedload a revolver, as a civilian (ie, no help coming in seconds) you're dead, that's all

If you need to speed reload ANYTHING,you should make at least the cursory effort and work the muscle memory. You carry it,you work with it until more than the weight in the paddle rig or the IWB. I prefer autos. I like some revolvers. I have had to work with both.
All things being equal,a longer ejector rod made things a bit easier on me.

Tactical and emergency reloads are part of every combat course I've ever taught or been trained on. It should part of your CCW training also. Spare magazines are carried for what other purpose?

"To reload your gun before you go home after a gunfight" - (I've actually heard motards spout that as seriously as can be... )

that's one reason, in case there's another problem on the way from the first one. As a civilian, the range will be 10 ft and less and your chances of surviving the need for a mag swap (much less the sort of malfunction best cleared by swapping mags) are practically nil.

you can easily have gangbangers make another pass at you, if they can find you. and yes, it can happen as you leave the first scene. So can problems with tyrants.

I had a one second, shot to shot, mag swap in 1978, proven on arganbright's electronic timer, but that was just firing a point shot (not necessarily a hit) as the mag went home. For resuming the weaver and an assured hit as part of the mag swap, it was more like 1.4 seconds, with no base pad on the mag, no mag well funnel. With those, it's easy to average 1.2 seconds for a mag swap and hit on the chest at 10 ft, going back to a 2 handed firing position. but that's open wear competition mag pouches, which are bs, just like a speed rig is.

Just like claims of prowess based on 40-year-old reminiscences...

What have you done in THIS century?

If you expect to be taken seriously, provide some proof of what you speak of. Not 4 decade old stories that lack creditability. The name calling makes you sound like teenie bopper having a tantrum.

If you'd actually read what I wrote, you'd see how moronic this post of yours is.

I never said it wasn't true.

I said it was ancient history.

And THAT is absolutely true, isn't it?

Melvin, the only thing that you specialize in, is making yourself look like a fool. Which you do well.
